Annotation: The work tells about the methods of teaching a foreign language. Particular
attention is paid to the specifics of the presentation of language to pupils in various forms.
An overview and comparison of various techniques is also provided.
Key words: foreign language, specificity, communicative and cognitive approach, reflexive
practice, introductory reading, modern technologies.
Learning a foreign language has become very tight in our lives. That's what I'll tell you in
my article. I think, that we are nowhere without foreign education. For example, in today's
society it has changed the status of a foreign language as a school subject. Specifically, the
expansion of international relations, the entry of our country into the world community has
made a foreign language really popular, means of communication, understanding and
interaction between people, familiarizing with different national culture, the development
of intellectual abilities of pupils, their educational potential. Teaching a foreign language
in not language high schools are not fully realizes how educational needs of students, and
humanitarian potential of this discipline. I'm studying in not language high school. And I
would like to have more and more of a foreign language in not language high schools.
Because I believe that a foreign language is to develop, both moral and spiritual. In
addition, it is very useful if you know not only their native language. One of the ways of
intensification of educational activities that enhance the motivation to learn a foreign
language and develop active and creative, the design is a form of work especially together
with teachers .
Project work is highly communicative activity, the manifestation of a
creative approach to problem solving that provides cognitive activity and independence of
students thinking and marks the transition to a new educational paradigm. Such as various
kinds of articles, presentations, essays, research projects and other. I think this is a very
interesting kind of work. Firstly you can learn a lot from the teacher, and secondly you
gain experience, and thirdly it is possible to expand your horizons and increase your
language level. Also, if you are learning, not language high school, you can go to different
workshops to improve the level of language, can be for training and seminars. The scope
of the foreign language for professional purposes consists of the following interrelated
components: language skills, communication skills and professional content. The purpose
of the teacher is to teach us, so that was interesting to listen, be interested in their
knowledge, to entice students to teach and learn languages. Specific professional goal is to
gradually increase the students' knowledge on the basics of communication skills and a
degree of inherent professional activity. After all, if you will eat roughly somewhere in the
international exhibition for your specialty not owning a foreign language, it is likely that
your project suffer fail and you come up with nothing.
Unfortunately, your skills will not
help you if you do not know a foreign language. Methods of teaching foreign languages
represented in this sense, a synthetic science, which studies the whole process of teaching
the subject.
Foreign language at a minimum, sufficient for professional communication in
the professional sphere. It is one of the demands of modern society to the young
professionals and is an essential component of professional preparation of the modern
engineer.
As I said above, most students of technical higher educational institutions are no
longer practiced in a foreign language at the end of the course of teaching foreign
languages and lose previously developed language and speech skills.
In modern methods
of
teaching
foreign
languages
are
dominant
personality-activity,
competence,
communicative and cognitive, socio-cultural, inter-cultural approaches, as well as their
integration.
Communicative and cognitive approach with regard to mastering a foreign
language just involves broad support on the already formed communication skills in their
native language, including in the theoretical linguistic concepts.
In simple words, the main
active interaction with a foreign mother tongue, then the process of learning a new means
of communication is accelerating.
Knowledge of socio-cultural features of the target
language country can significantly affect the quality of communication, become a pledge
of
mutual
respect
and
understanding
partners
in
interpersonal
and
intercultural
communication.
Of course, if you live in England or America, your English level will be
different from any other person living in Russia, for example. But again, we say that not
necessarily live there, you can also live in Russia, but interested in culture, delve into and
explore all the traditions and customs, to make it easier to master the skills of a foreign
language.
One of the methods of foreign language training of students for professional
purposes is a reflexive methodology. The teacher uses reflective practice in the analysis of
its arsenal of methods of teaching English for professional purposes in order to find the
most suitable method for a specific learning situation. During the class, organized by the
technology of reflective practice, the student plays an active role in communicating with
other learners and the teacher, using them as sources of knowledge. Then, the student
implements new knowledge into existing knowledge of his personal system and get a new
experience activities, which allows him to look at the case study in a new way. I think that
using this method the student masters reflexive critical thinking skills and management
training activities.
Analysis of the use of computer technology in teaching the process has
allowed us to outline their characteristics in the process of learning activities of students
and identify the job for the teacher, function computer and student opportunities in
accordance with the stages of training process.
And now look at some means of learning a
foreign language. For example, one of the ways of teaching and learning goals of students
to a foreign language is to read. Reading is a kind of receptive speech, which contemplates
the extraction contained in the text information, including the reconstruction of the process
of reading the author's intention. The basis of this type of speech activity skills are
associated
with
incoming
information
retrieval.
There
are
several
types
of
reading
professional texts. I'll tell you about some of
them. Look-reading involves getting a
general idea of readable material. The purpose of this reading is to obtain a very general
idea of the main theme of the text. Student, scanning text, determines for itself whether its
this perspective or not interested. The result is this type of reading registration can be read
results in the form of a short message, the abstract or summary in a foreign (or native)
language. The next kind of introductory reading. Introductory reading (reading for the
main idea) is a such kind of reading in which the reader happens to familiarize with the
information contained in the test. Exploratory reading -read-viewing certain materials in
order to find specific information (numbers, dates, schedules, definitions, static data, etc.).
To study reading implies the most complete and accurate retrieval of information from a
foreign text. The degree of completeness of reading comprehension should reach 90-
100%. Situations of the reading is usually divided into two types: 1) to situations where
students need to receive only the information contained in the text; 2) for a situation where
together to obtain the information they need to bring this text to the other. In the first case,
a "read myself", in the second case - "reading aloud". In general, knowledge of reading in
a
foreign
language
allows
for
such
aspects
professional
activities,
as
the
timely
introduction of new discoveries and trends in the development of science and technology,
the study of modern technologies, and thereby enhance their professional skills. Given that
the basic requirement for the selection of reading material in modern methods of teaching
a foreign language is their authenticity, a differentiated approach to the teaching of reading
requires permission of the objective contradiction between the requirement of authenticity
and accessibility of texts for reading.
In order to ensure availability of texts for students
with a low level foreign ownership, particularly in English, it is possible to select another
type of texts - texts, modeled on the "plateau" type.
In assessing the effectiveness of a
particular type of reading, drawing attention to the degree of understanding and reading
speed. In my opinion, reading task implements an aid in language learning. While reading
develops observation, care and many other qualities of the students, they are serious about
forming their opinion through foreign language speech. I think, that using computer
technology has radically changed the concept of learning languages, making it much more
intense. Time does not stand still, and at the same time should be developed and English
language, namely teaching methods. At the present stage of the modernization process of
teaching foreign language professional direction in higher education continues, there is an
active search for ways to improve it. Benefits include interactive technologies that
contribute to the development of cognitive and creative activity of students, formation of
communicative, speech and intercultural competencies in an environment close to the
professional field. In conclusion, I would like to say that computer technology greatly
contribute to the development of interest in reading original scientific, technical and
specialized literature in a foreign language, as well as to assist the transition to a
qualitatively new level of training of future specialists in not language high school.
