Цель урока: Совершенствование лексических навыков и развитие умений говорения

Задачи урока:

Образовательные

активизировать лексические единицы по теме;

развивать навыки неподготовленной речи;

Good morning everybody. I’m glad to see you. First I’d like to ask you what our topic is.

And today at the lesson we are going to talk much about mysterious things and events which we can’t

explain and often don’t believe in, unless we see them ourselves (See it to believe it!). We’ll try to

learn to speak about such things using the words and grammar we have studied recently.

Let us revise some phrases which will help us to describe our dreams at the end of the lesson. Look at

the white board and repeat after me:

I had a nightmare in my dream.

The scariest spine-chilling scene

Was: all the ghosts first just stared,

Then shouted at me and glared.

I couldn’t run without feet.

I woke up and didn’t sleep.

We started our discussion of mysterious things with illusions. I hope you all remember what an

illusion is. And now I want you to look at the picture and tell me what you see in it.

I have prepared posters for you with pictures describing your dreams. Look at the posters and

comment what people dream about. Today at the lesson we are going to revise active vocabulary and at

the end of the lesson you will be able to describe your dreams. Let’s start our dream trip!

Who can tell me where our dreams may take place? Let’s try to recognize such places and label each

picture. And now tell me please how these places are called if ghosts and spirits appear there in strange

form. Where can you come across haunted mansions, haunted castles?

What may happen in haunted places, what feeling can we have?

Take your card № 1 and match the words in the two columns to form collocations (exercise 1). One

suvorovite will do the task on the interactive whiteboard.

Check your answers. And now will you complete the sentences using these phrases (exercise 2).

Закрепление грамматического материала.

We can’t speak about dreams, nightmares and mysterious things without phrasal verbs and dependent

prepositions. First let’s revise the verbs and expressions we studied at our lessons. Match the words

with prepositions. One suvorovite will do the task on the interactive whiteboard.

Now you can fill the gaps with suitable prepositions. Take card № 2 and do the exercise 1.

Will you make up your own sentences using these phrases.

Аудирование.

I see you like haunted places and ghosts if you make up so many interesting sentences about them. Try

to guess where the most haunted castle can be situated. Any ideas?

Of course in Britain and now we are going to listen to the story about the most haunted castle in

Britain. After listening you are supposed to answer the questions. Look at the interactive whiteboard

and get acquainted with the questions.

Are you ready? Let’s start.

Will you answer the questions:

What time does the castle date back?

What does the most famous ghost do?

What can you say about ‘the Blue Boy’?

Who may be interested in visiting the castle?

I think it’s time to relax. I see you are a bit tired of all those nightmares, horrors and ghosts. Can you

imagine that the haunted castle can be fun and the ghost can be friendly? Do you know any friendly

ghosts? Let’s watch a short video episode and have a rest.

Актуализация изученного материала в устной речи

We have had a short rest and are ready to proceed.

One night suvorovites didn’t feel like sleeping and decided to tell each other the most unusual dreams

and scariest nightmares they had ever had. Let’s turn back to that evening and overhear some of their

stories.

Take card № 3 and using the model discuss in pairs / groups your dream. After discussing one of you

will present a short report about it to us. Don’t forget to use our active vocabulary and grammar

structures in your reports.

Are you ready to speak? Everybody please be very attentive while listening as I’ll ask you a question

afterwards.

We have approached to our aim. I’m sure you have enough ideas to speak about your dreams. I asked

you to bring the pictures what people usually dream about. Now using the pictures, our active

vocabulary and all your creativity try to make a monologue and a poster illustrating it in groups.

Be very attentive. I will ask you a couple of questions after listening your monologues.

Give the name to the story.

Suggest another ending to the story. It’s better to finish positively.

Now let’s think what you have learnt at the lesson. What can you do now?

Yes, you have developed your speaking skills and at your self-preparation you’ll develop your writing

skills. Open your exercise books and put down the task: write a letter to your friend describing your

dream (100-120 words). Remember the rules of letter writing.
